Wilkinson County Projected and Actual Dates
MDOC uses the exact label Tentative Release Date on an offender detail page. It is a calculated estimate, not the same thing as parole eligibility, maximum discharge, or the date a person physically leaves custody. An actual release record documents an event that already occurred. A tentative date looks forward and may move when the underlying sentence or credits change.
Pretrial detainees do not have a sentence-based release date. Their departure may depend on bond, a recognizance order, dismissal, transfer, or later court action. Even a person serving a local sentence should not be assigned the MDOC earned-time formula unless the record shows an MDOC commitment. Ask the sheriff and sentencing court how the local discharge was calculated.
| Date or status | What it means | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Tentative Release Date | MDOC's anticipated date after eligible sentence adjustments | That release happened on that date |
| Parole eligibility | The point when Board consideration may be possible | That parole was granted |
| Maximum discharge | Expected sentence endpoint without early-release allowances | The likely physical departure date in every case |
| Actual release or discharge | A recorded operational event | That every other hold or form of supervision ended |
Find a Wilkinson County Inmate Release Date
Classify the custody setting before searching. The Wilkinson County Sheriff keeps the county jail docket. MDOC controls sentence computation for prisoners at Wilkinson County Correctional Facility, Wilkinson County Community Work Center, Wilkinson County Technical Violation Center, and other state placements. BOP controls federal sentence information. Each agency can speak only for its own custody episode.
- Identify the system. Determine whether the person was last held by the Wilkinson County Sheriff, MDOC, or a federal agency. Use a booking, MDOC, or federal register number when available.
- Check MDOC for a state sentence. Search the official MDOC Inmate Search by MDOC ID or name and open the correctly matched detail.
- Confirm the person. Compare the MDOC ID, date of birth, sex, physical descriptors, sentence information, and county of conviction. Do not rely on a photo or shared name alone.
- Copy the exact label. If present, record “Tentative Release Date,” its displayed value, the search date, current location, and location-change date. Preserve a blank as blank.
- Use the sheriff and court for a local case. Ask the sheriff for the discharge entry and the Justice or Circuit Court for the order that controls bond, sentence, or transfer.
- Confirm the completed event. Obtain the MDOC time sheet and release or discharge document, or the Wilkinson jail docket entry. Check parole records when the person may have moved to community supervision.
A blank MDOC field cannot be rewritten as “released,” “no sentence,” or even a final unknown date without agency confirmation. Research did not establish that the public Inmate Search reliably keeps an actual release or discharged status for every person after MDOC control ends. Historical proof may require an MDOC records request.
For an overview of the correct county, state, and federal paths, use the Wilkinson County release-record search guide. It also explains why leaving one roster can mean transfer rather than return to the community.
Reading the MDOC Tentative Release Field
The public MDOC detail can include the offender name and ID, date of birth, physical descriptors, entry date, current location and unit, location-change date, sentence count and length, offense, county of conviction, sentence date, and a photograph. These fields help distinguish same-name candidates and place the tentative date in the right sentence context.
The official MDOC example used in the research shows how a populated Tentative Release Date appears on a detail page.
The screenshot supports the field name and placement, but its sample value belongs only to that official example. A current search and identity check are required for the person being researched.
Note: Preserve the date label with the value because tentative, eligibility, maximum-discharge, and actual dates answer different questions.
Mississippi Earned Time for Wilkinson Records
MDOC Time Computation establishes eligibility and release dates from sentence information. Miss. Code §47-5-138(5), as presented in an MDOC-hosted statute copy, provides an allowance of 4.5 days for each 30 days served for certain sentences imposed after June 30, 1995 when MDOC finds compliance with conduct and performance requirements. The total earned-time allowance is capped at 15 percent.
This is the source of the often used 85/15 description: when eligible, up to 15 percent may be served on earned-release supervision after about 85 percent in custody. It is not a promise that every sentence is reduced by 15 percent. Eligibility, offense and sentence features, classification, conduct, forfeiture, and an approved plan can change the result.
MDOC identifies exclusions that can include life sentences, habitual status, forfeited earned time, specified armed robbery, carjacking or drive-by situations, sex crimes, and escape or attempted escape. Subsection (6) places early release onto ERS under MDOC jurisdiction with supervision similar to parole. Subsection (7) addresses revocation and states that ERS street time does not reduce the sentence after that revocation.
Do not calculate a Wilkinson County date by simply subtracting 15 percent. Sentence computation can combine legal rules and case facts that are not clear from one charge line. Request the time sheet when the public date is unclear or disputed.
Why Wilkinson Release Dates Change
A tentative release date is only as stable as the sentence data and credits behind it. The reason for a shift may be routine, such as corrected presentence credit, or significant, such as a new court order or forfeited earned time. Compare dated records before deciding that two values conflict.
| Factor | Possible effect | Confirmation source |
|---|---|---|
| Concurrent or consecutive terms | Changes whether sentences overlap or run one after another | Judgment and MDOC time sheet |
| Presentence jail credit | May move the sentence-begin date when eligible on the same cause | Court record and MDOC computation |
| Earned-time forfeiture or restoration | Can move the tentative date later or earlier | MDOC time and classification records |
| Disciplinary action | May affect conduct-based credit or classification | MDOC record |
| Amended judgment | Can alter the legal sentence data | Sentencing court and updated MDOC computation |
| Parole action or another hold | May change physical departure or destination without ending all control | Board action, release paperwork, and receiving-agency record |
Offense date determines which law applies. Multiple causes, habitual designation, prior convictions, special judicial conditions, and fixed “day for day” treatment for some crimes can also affect computation. A detainer may allow one facility to end its custody while another agency immediately begins custody, so the operational event and destination must be read together.
Request Wilkinson MDOC Date Records
A public detail page is useful for a current estimate, but a time sheet provides the fuller computation trail. MDOC directs written public-records requests through GovQA. Identify the person by MDOC number and ask narrowly for the offender data sheet, time sheet or sentence computation, actual release date, release mechanism, and release or discharge certificate. A focused request avoids asking the agency to compile a new report.
The MDOC public-records policy lists its Public Records Officer at 301 North Lamar Street, Jackson, MS 39201, with telephone 601-359-5600. Inspection and copying are listed for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on working days after applicable payment. The policy lists 15 cents per page and may charge the lowest-qualified staff cost after the first hour, plus vendor or mailing expenses. It allows an advance estimate and payment.
Some parole, probation, investigative, victim, private, or sensitive material may be exempt. Ask for segregable nonexempt release documents instead of an entire field-officer file. Under Mississippi public-records rules, a denial should be written and identify the specific exemption, while exempt portions should be separated from releasable material when possible.
Pair the MDOC packet with the sentencing judgment and any amended or revocation orders. The court supplies legal authority, while MDOC records show how that authority was calculated and implemented. If the question concerns a county booking before state commitment, obtain the sheriff docket as a separate custody record.
Wilkinson County Jail Date Caution
No Wilkinson-specific county-jail good-time or weekend-release policy was found in the official research. The MDOC formula should not be applied to a local misdemeanor stay without authority. Contact the Wilkinson County Sheriff at 601-888-3511 and the sentencing court with the booking or case number.
The sheriff's jail docket supplies the discharge date and time and should identify the disposition or receiving agency. The court order explains the legal basis. A bond release can leave a case pending, while transfer to MDOC ends the county episode but continues confinement. If the office confirms only that someone is no longer present, ask where the person went and what record documents that handoff.
Note: A county booking end and a later MDOC release are separate events, so keep both dates when the custody chain includes a transfer.
Wilkinson CWC and TVC Date Confusion
Wilkinson County Community Work Center and Wilkinson County Technical Violation Center share the 84 Prison Lane address and 601-888-4378 main telephone. Address alone therefore cannot show whether someone is in gradual reintroduction at the CWC or held at the TVC for a supervision violation. The full MDOC location and status are essential.
CWC community activity is not discharge from MDOC. TVC departure can mean return to supervision rather than final release from the sentence. When a tentative date appears near either placement, do not infer the result from the facility's local setting. Confirm the named placement, MDOC status, time sheet, and any supervision record.
Confirm a Wilkinson County Release Event
For an MDOC sentence, ask through the agency's GovQA public-records portal for the offender data sheet, time sheet or sentence computation, release or discharge certificate, actual release date, and release mechanism. Include the MDOC number and a focused date range. A Parolee Search match can confirm active parole on the search date, but the Board action and release paperwork give stronger historical detail.
Mississippi VINE can provide a rapid notification when a participating jail or MDOC system enters a release or transfer event. An alert should be confirmed with the reporting agency because it may describe the end of that agency's custody rather than release to the community. Registration steps and notification limits appear on the VINELink Release Check page.
When sources disagree, compare identifiers, custody episodes, event labels, timestamps, and receiving agencies. Do not average dates. Ask the agency to identify the record underlying its displayed value, and retain the search date so a later update can be understood.
Note: Use the full MDOC placement name because CWC and TVC share an address but represent different paths toward release.
