Check WCCF Release Records

To find someone released from Wilkinson County Correctional Facility, use Mississippi Department of Corrections records rather than the Wilkinson County jail docket. WCCF is a state-prison placement, even though it is in Wilkinson County and has a private operator. Leaving the building may mean parole, earned-release supervision, sentence discharge, transfer within MDOC, or delivery to another custodian. The MDOC offender record, time computation, release document, and supervision record identify which event occurred. A current location change or old tentative date alone does not prove that a person reached the community.

WCCF Release Paths

Wilkinson County Correctional Facility is part of the state correctional channel. MDOC identifies WCCF as a private facility operated by Management & Training Corporation under state contract and oversight. Its secure custody and programming do not change who owns the controlling offender record. The sheriff does not certify a WCCF release merely because both custody settings are located in Wilkinson County.

A departure can lead to parole, earned-release supervision, maximum discharge, an internal MDOC transfer, or another hold. Parole is a Board-authorized release from incarceration under supervision. Earned-release supervision also places a person in the community while MDOC jurisdiction continues. A discharge document is needed to show the end of state control. A movement to CWC, TVC, or another prison remains an MDOC placement rather than a community release.

Confirm a WCCF Release

Start at the official MDOC Inmate Search. Its form accepts a first name, last name, or MDOC ID. The ID is safest. A name match must be checked against date of birth and other displayed identity details. The tool is a current inmate search, not a guaranteed archive for everyone who has fully discharged.

  1. Search the MDOC number when known, then open the matching detail only after identity checks.
  2. Read current location, unit, and location-change date. A different MDOC facility means transfer, not discharge.
  3. Copy the exact “Tentative Release Date” label and value, if present. Keep it labeled as an estimate.
  4. Search the active Parolee Search. A matched current record supports release from prison onto parole, not an unconditional discharge.
  5. When the public searches do not settle the event, request the time sheet and actual release, parole, or discharge document from MDOC.

The offender detail can list sentence entries, county of conviction, sentence dates, and other fields needed to avoid a same-name error. Concurrent or consecutive terms and later adjustments can affect the date. The Wilkinson County release search paths compare this state route with the separate county jail route.

Important: A tentative release date forecasts an event. It is not the actual WCCF release record.

WCCF Release Contacts

The official MDOC WCCF page identifies the facility and operator. Call the facility for current operational routing, but send requests for state offender release and discharge records through MDOC. A prison front desk may confirm the correct office without being the custodian of every time-computation or Board record.

The MDOC Public Records Officer is at 301 North Lamar Street, Jackson, MS 39201, with telephone 601-359-5600. The official request route uses MDOC GovQA. Identify the MDOC number and a narrow period. Ask for the offender data sheet, time sheet or sentence computation, actual release date, release mechanism, and release or discharge certificate.

WCCF State Prison Records

WCCF is not the Wilkinson County Jail. The county jail records a local arrest and booking. WCCF houses people within the state sentence system, and MDOC controls location, sentence, time, parole, and discharge records. Management & Training Corporation operates the facility under contract, but that arrangement does not shift release confirmation to the sheriff.

The MDOC detail may show an offender photograph, MDOC entry date, current location, sentence totals, individual offenses, county of conviction, and the field labeled “Tentative Release Date.” A blank tentative field cannot be translated into “released” or “unknown sentence.” For a fully discharged person, the public search may not preserve enough history, so the requested certificate and time sheet are stronger sources.

Tentative release
An anticipated date after eligible adjustments, not proof that release occurred.
Parole
Board-authorized release from prison with active conditions and supervision.
Earned-release supervision
Community placement while the person remains under MDOC jurisdiction.
Maximum discharge
The expected sentence end without early-release allowances, confirmed in agency records.

WCCF Operator and Release Control

WCCF's local distinction is its split between physical operation and record authority. MTC operates the prison. MDOC holds the statewide correctional role and oversees the contract. That means a request should be routed by record type. A facility contact can address its own operations, while MDOC is the correct source for the offender data sheet, time computation, official status, parole pathway, and discharge document.

This distinction also guards against a common Wilkinson search error. A Woodville address does not mean a person was booked into the sheriff jail. Search results for “Wilkinson jail” may blur the county office and WCCF even though their purposes and record systems differ. Confirm the full name, operator, MDOC number, and custody episode before drawing a conclusion.

The official MDOC facility page can establish that WCCF is the named placement. The statewide offender detail can show whether the location later changed. The time sheet explains sentence computation. A parole certificate or discharge record establishes the actual legal event. Together, those sources offer a much stronger chain than a call to the county jail.

The MDOC source image below shows the official WCCF identity, operator, and contact page. View the current details on the MDOC facility source before relying on a copied directory entry.

WCCF Release Hold Routing

A scheduled WCCF departure can be affected by another legal hold. If the MDOC release document identifies another county, federal authority, or immigration custodian, the person's departure from WCCF is a transfer. It should not be described as a release to the community. Follow the named receiving agency and preserve MDOC's exact event language.

No official evidence established a current Wilkinson County ICE detention contract. ICE should therefore appear only as a conditional route when an actual record identifies an immigration handoff. The ICE locator covers current ICE custody and certain extended CBP custody, not a complete historical release file. A no-result cannot erase the documented transfer.

USMS custody has a similar boundary. The Marshals may use contract facilities and does not maintain a general public historical locator. For a later sentenced federal term, the BOP locator may show a federal release date, but it does not replace the WCCF record. Each agency result describes its own custody episode.

Note: A WCCF release document naming another custodian confirms transfer, not an unrestricted community release.

Request WCCF Release Records

MDOC asks for written public-record requests and directs requesters through GovQA. Include contact information, a signature where required, the MDOC number, and enough detail to locate the record. Request existing documents rather than asking the agency to calculate a new answer. The strongest set includes the time sheet, offender data sheet, release or discharge certificate, actual release date, and release mechanism.

MDOC policy lists inspection and copying during working days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. after applicable payment. It lists fifteen cents per page and may charge the lowest-qualified staff cost after the first hour, plus vendor or mailing expenses. Advance estimate and payment may apply. Private, investigative, victim, and some field-officer material can be exempt, so ask for segregable nonexempt release documents instead of an entire supervision file.

The Mississippi Public Records Act permits reasonable procedures, fees, and exemptions. A denial should identify its statutory basis, and nonexempt parts should be separated where possible. Court sentencing or amended orders may provide an independent legal source, but they may not state the exact moment WCCF carried out the release.

Keep an audit trail when sources disagree. Record the search date, URL, MDOC number, facility, exact status phrase, and whether each date was tentative, actual, or an eligibility date. First confirm that all records describe the same person and sentence. Then separate a WCCF location change from parole, discharge, or transfer to another custodian. Conflicting labels should be resolved with the record behind the displayed value, not by choosing the date that looks most recent.

Under Mississippi public-record procedures, a body that cannot produce within its stated period must explain the delay. Redacted records should still yield reasonably separable public portions, and a written denial should name the exemption. Those rules do not make every prison or supervision file public. They support a focused request for the specific WCCF release proof that can be disclosed.
